When in South Dakota

It has been 2 weeks since I left the comfy confines of Massachusetts. Here I am an official South Dakota resident. I have started my job as a system admin for Meta bank. I have begun a home search and let me tell you that was interesting. Now I watch all the home shows where they show you how to stage your home, do and donts. Well this does not apply here in the midwest.
I saw dirty kitchens, unorganized living rooms and places that have not been upgraded since the 70's.

Well the search continued until I came upon some new construction in a very desriable location of town. I met with my real estate agent and the developer and I fell in love. The area is walking distance to a park and Kara's new school which ultimatley sealed the deal. The home is a split level with a 2 car garage and more yard space then our home back in Massachusetts. I will have more details as things progress. Though it should be interesting designing a home with Cindy 1700 miles away and not here to help pick out colors, styles etc...

Couple of things I wanted to point out that I havent been able to get through my thick skull. With the one hour time change all the programming is one hour earlier. Makes it difficult when your use to watching prime time TV at 8 and all of a sudden you have to remember to tune in by 7. Also with a new cable company comes relearning the channel guide. East is west and north is south. I am so confused. At least the street naming convention makes sense and I am yet to get lost. Numbered streets run east and west while all other roads run north and south. As long as you remember that you always know where you are. And finally I have to get use to people talking in directions. West of 41st or North of the airport. How would I know this being a newbie.. I am use to giving people directions based on landmarks or towns. Well just had to get that off my chest.

I hope you are all well back home. See you all soon.

Joe
